ATLANTA, Ga. - Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss says "it's not going to be an easy weekend" in Washington as Congress seeks a solution to the debt debate deadlock in Washington.
Chambliss, one of Georgia's two Republican senators, is a member of the so-called "Gang of Six" that has been weighing for months a solution to the national deficit. He spoke to reporters Thursday ahead of a scheduled House vote on the proposal crafted by Speaker John Boehner.
Even if the Boehner plan is approved by the House, Chambliss says he does not expect it or the proposal floated by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to pass the Senate.
Chambliss says military pay and social security payments would be especially concerning in Georgia if the debt ceiling is not raised by Aug. 2.
